This study examines all application-specific wired semiconductors (including ASSPs and ASICs) for datacom/telecom equipment markets. It includes market rankings for T/E, ATM, SONET/SDH, network processing, and switch fabric/backplane semiconductor suppliers. Rankings for communication processors, including standalone host and integrated processor devices, that ship into datacom/telecom equipment markets are also included in the study. In addition, vendor rankings for VoIP semiconductors, which include digital signal processors (DSPs) and more integrated ASSP/ASICs that are responsible for the conversion of traditional POTS voice into IP packets (and vice versa), are also shown.
