Abstract:

This study includes a competitive assessment of semiconductors shipping into cellular basestations. The basestation semiconductor market grew 18% in 2004, reaching $2.2 billion. As network operators continued to demand future-proofed networks with GPRS, EDGE, and HSDPA upgrades in mind, semiconductor growth was primarily driven by programmable chips such as high-performance DSPs and FPGA/PLDs.
