Abstract:

This report focuses on IntelЃfs value (Celeron) and mobile value (mobile Celeron) processor business and includes volume, product, and clockspeed estimates to 4Q03; pricing and ASP projections to 4Q02. This report covers the introduction of the P7 microarchitecture to thedesktop Celeron market and the introduction of Banias into the mobile Celeron market. Chip set and platform technologies are included, alongwith MDR's projections of integrated graphics platform positioning. The value segment is relatively crowded and Intel's competitors includeAMD, VIA, and Transmeta. Intel's plans for mobile Banias, though, could leave its competitors out of the growth segment of the mobilemarket in 2003.

This report covers Intel's plans to increase desktop value processor clock speeds to at least 2.5GHz as it exits 2003. IntelЃfs mobile valueprocessors will struggle to 1.7GHz at the end of 2003 as it balances challenges from competitors and maintains power dissipation within desiredmobile limits but without the benefit of the power management capabilities of the performance segment. Understanding IntelЃfs productdirections and potential will help you navigate that future. Data, dating back as far as 1998, is supplied to provide a historical context to IntelЃfs present and future plans.
