Abstract:

Currently over 60% of all US households subscribe to an Internet Service Provider. The majority of these households still access the Internet via a dial-up modem. However, for service providers looking to generate more revenues from their consumer customer base, it is important for them to increase broadband penetration.

Based on a survey of nearly 1,000 US households, this report examines where service provides have and haven't been successful selling broadband service. Even more importantly, this report looks at why service providers have or haven't been successful selling this service. Information on consumer attitudes toward broadband access is segmented in the report by the age of the key decision maker, annual household income, and broadband access technology.

Also included in this report are five-year forecasts for the following:
 · Percent of all US households with Internet access
 · Percent of all online households using broadband and dial-up access
 · The actual number of households using broadband and dial-up access
 · Percent of all US households using broadband access
