Bishop & Associates has just released a new six chapter research report providing a comprehensive analysis of connector usage in the wireless, wireline carrier and enterprise network sectors of the Chinese telecom market.

For each sector, a detailed analysis of connector consumption for each of the major categories of equipment is provided. The value and growth rate of equipment production for each sector is forecast for the years 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2006. In addition, values and growth rates are identified by connector type for each category of equipment for the years 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2006.

This report furnishes a detailed and authoritative analysis of telecom connector consumption in the world's fastest growing economy. For the purposes of this report, China is defined as the Peoples' Republic of China, Hong Kong and the Republic of China (Taiwan).

Total 2001 shipments for telecommunications equipment produced in China was $26.9 billion.

Chinese Telecom Equipment Market - $ Billions

Wireless carrier network equipment totaled at $9.9 billion in 2001. The forecast value of factory shipments for 2006 is $27.6 billion, representing an Compound Average Growth Rate (CAGR) of 22.8%.

The wireline carrier equipment market totaled $6.6 billion in 2001. This market is currently forecast to grow at a CAGR of 11.1%, reaching $11.2 billion in 2006.

Enterprise network equipment totaled $8.7 billion in 2001. A CAGR of 11.3% for this segment places factory shipments at $14.8 billion in 2006.

Shipments of other types telecom equipment totaled $1.7 billion in 2001. The forecast for this category is $2.6 billion in 2006, representing a five-year CAGR of 8.3%.

Wireless equipment is the fastest growing sector of the Chinese market, with a growth of 25%t forecast for 2002.

The key driver for growth in this sector is wireless handsets as cost pressures compel manufacturers to either outsource manufacturing to EMS providers or set-up shop themselves in lower labor cost regions.

Wireline carrier networks represent the second fastest growing sector with a 2002 forecast growth of 12.3%. The wireline sector is driven primarily by investments by the Chinese Government in basic infrastructure and by competition among carriers.

Enterprise Networks is third with a current 2002 forecast growth of 10.3%. The enterprise sector is driven by both local consumption growth and a strong export trade.

The Chinese telecom connector market totaled $455.5 million in 2002, up nearly 16% from 2001. The forecast value of connector shipments for 2002 is $519.4 million, reflecting an increase of 16.6% over 2001. The five-year CAGR for the Chinese telecom connector market is 14.7%.
