Abstract:
 While efforts to stem security breeches often focus on hackers and other outside forces, anywhere from thirty to eighty percent of security violations are committed by employees or other "insiders".

Unfortunately, most companies are in denial over the level of threat posed by "friendly forces," preferring to spend their scarce security dollars on firewalls, anti-virus software, and sophisticated access control systems, all designed to repel external attackers. Establishing an effective security system means defending against all potential enemies, including those who attend the company picnic.
