Abstract:
Industry Definition
This industry comprises establishments primarily engaged in wholesaling home furnishings and/or housewares.
Examples of products include carpets, draperies, curtains, glassware and chinaware, bed- bath- and table linens and cooking utensils. Industry participants generally supply goods to homeware retailers, department stores, floor covering retailers and domestic appliance retailers.
However in recent years there has been a trend for home furnishing manufacturers to internalize the distribution process and sell direct to the end user. In effect the role of the home furnishing wholesaler has diminished in recent years as they are increasingly being by passed.
