Abstract:
Turkish Construction Sector Report offers an extensive summary of the Turkish construction sector. It includes a complete coverage of the latest developments as well as the latest corporate news accompanied by statistical data. THE REPORT COVERS THE PERIOD JANUARY - MARCH 2007.
The expansion in construction sector slowed down in Q4/2006, however construction sector continues to be the main driver behind the strong GDP growth. In the whole 2006, the sector posted a 19.4% growth. The traces of expansion in the sector can also be seen in construction related activity and data such as cement production and sale figures, number of building permits, housing loans and employment data. The long-waited mortgage bill has been adopted by the parliament and this piece of legislation will no doubt give a further boost to the construction activities. The sector is likely to maintain its high growth rates in the coming quarters of this year however market fluctuations triggered by political developments are seen as the major threats to this projection.
