Abstract:

Table 149 and Figure 25 show that passenger traffic from Shanghai railway station grew from 26 million in 2000 to 36.5 million in 2004, expanding at an average rate of 9.2%. The figure dipped by almost 3% in 2003, mainly as a result of that year's SARS outbreak in southern China, but a 20% leap in 2004 more than made up for this.
