Abstract:
The report provides a solid foundation in all of Apple’s businesses, highlighting the operational and financial performance of each segment, with the focus of the report on Apples sale of video content.
From its near-implosion in the 1990s, Apple has become a major turn-around success story, with losses converted into sharply accelerating profits and stagnant sales giving way to steeply rising revenues. Nowhere is this more evident than in Apple’s fiscal Q1 06 quarterly results, when the company posted record revenues and profits. Apple’s recent stellar performance is largely attributable to iTunes and iPod – iPod sales during the quarter accounted for more than half of Apple’s revenues.
The iPod is also laying the foundation for Apple’s Television 2.0 business expansion, with the advent of video capability and the sale of video programming on iTunes. As our report details, Apple’s forays into the Television 2.0 arena have produced remarkable results to date, and promise to generate for Apple as much, and in all probability far more, revenue than Apple’s successful iTunes digital music business.
